Lessons Description
For
a new paragliding student, the intro package will be
a great way to gain a perspective of learning to paraglide.
The 2 day package is often used
by those who want to "test the water" and
see if their interest will lead to a full program. All
equipment is provided in lesson packages.
Tandem
Paragliding is another way to see if learning to
paraglide is in the future. If a student takes any of
these and decides to jump to the Unlimited "Novice"
Paragliding Lesson program, the price of the their lesson
will be pro-rated toward the full program.
For
full information on my programs, I strongly recommend
coming to one of my groundschool classes. These classes
are offered free of charge every Thursday night (student
not enrolled in a program can come to one class only)
and I can impart all details about my programs and teaching
style at these sessions. Full information is at Free

Lessons
are offered year round. The primary season for coastal
soaring and more consistent weather (The "summer
season") is between March and October. The weather
will come into play a bit more between November and
February, but when storms are not hitting, there is
great training available this time of year as well.
I also have special packages for winter season for people
that want to do intensive training in a 2 week in Baja
California (very consistent weather from Nov. -
Feb. to gain their Novice / P2 Rating.

Paragliding
Lessons - Class Size:
In the full programs, during the first 2 or
3 lessons, there will not be more than 2 students
in the class (most schools do not have this
limit). Students in the early stages need
full attention and more time under the wings
to get past the initial phases. Later, when
flights are from larger hills or are soaring
flights, the class size can go up to 3 or
4. Upon special requests, the "early
stages" max class size may be waived,
please call me for such a possibility.
Mountain trips may include larger class sizes.

If
the winds are light, the focus will be at
first on ground handling. Once solid skills
are achieved, the focus to move to progressing
higher up higher on the hills.
The first step and often the entire first day,
is to learn about the wing, how to set it up
in preparation for the launch and learn how
to get the wing overhead. This is done first
on a flat area to teach the technique in pulling
the Paraglider overhead. Once a student has
done this successfully a couple times, we move
to a small hill and do several flights with
a straight glide to the landing area (See
Sample Video) . Once the launches and landing
look good and the student has done some minor
steering, we can move up to the higher launches
and add some steering. The most difficult part
is the take off and landing.

If
the winds are stronger: The paragliding lesson
will concentrate on reverse launching and kiting
skills first and later on ridge soaring flights.
First flights will be off of a gradual slope, not
far from the ground. If conditions are good enough
for a Tandem Flight, this can be a great training
tool as well and is available when weather permits.

Day Paragliding P1 Introductory Course
Designed
to get most students to a P1 Beginner Paragliding
Rating
This
is a 2 day lesson course. Each lesson
is a 3-4 hr semi-private lesson with
a class maximum size of 2 person. If
you sign up as 1 person, the class size
limit is still 2 and you might go out
private or another person may be there
in the lesson with you. The 2 Person
Rate is for signing up and participating
together. |

Paragliding Lesson Package
If
you know you want to learn how to
Paraglide, this is the package for
you. Each student has a full year
to complete the below training package
(much better to achieve this in a
few months, but if something comes
up, you have the full year to complete
the package). The +
means
that the program takes you well past
the Novice rating. I
not only add extra and important tasks
to the USHPA requirements, but include
coastal soaring introductions (Top
Landing and Soaring) and a 2 Day Mountain
(Students must have their
own harness / reserve for Mtn. trips
- A
wing can be included as part of the
program, but the school does not have
enough harnesses with reserves for
these trips).
On the Mountain trips, I always have
a radio coach at both the take off
and landing area to provide guidance
and safety. Additionally, each student
I graduate in this program can come
back for ground handling tune ups
free of charge forever after graduation
from the package. Each student also
receives free testing and observations
for more advanced ratings forever
after completion of this program.
In this unlimited package, if you
sign up for a day and no other student
signs up for the same day, we will
go out as a private lesson. If another
student does sign up, we will go out
as a semi-private lesson. Lessons
are available on Weekdays and Weekends.
The two person limit holds till students
can self launch from hills or are
ready to attempt soaring.
There should never be a rush to get
your paragliding ratings. With this
package, you can focus on getting
all of the skills and not have to
worry each lesson day about cost.
If the weather starts out good, but
gets bad, we can still accomplish
a lot in the good part of the day
because of the small paragliding class
size.

Get
Basic training to the P2 Novice Level.
In this package you will get unlimited
training to the P2 threshold (Lessons
must be completed within 6 months
of 1st lesson). I like to include
in packages guidance for ridge soaring
as well as some Mtn. training, so
would highly recommend looking at
the unlimited P2+
packages for most students. On the
other hand, some students simply want
to get to the most basic flying level
and this package will get you there.

Intensive P2 +
Paragliding Lesson Package
Winter
Training in much of the USA can be
very difficult. I offer localized
training during the winter and we
do get out regularly, however, some
students want to do an intensive package
with consecutive training days during
a vacation. This package has been
designed to take 2 or more people
on a 2 week adventure package to Baja
California just 45 minutes south of
the border near San Diego. With the
excellent weather there, almost any
student will be able to achieve a
P2 in the 2 week period. The winter
season in Baja is great for flying
and the sites over a 20 mile section
of the coastline make for excellent
training sites.
Packages for this are available for
2 week venues between November and
February every winter. You just need
to confirm date availability well
in advance and we can make plans to
go.
Included
in this program is all training equipment,
transportation to sites and 2 full
weeks of intensive training. Not Included
is your transportation to Baja California,
lodging and food. I can however, help
you make the arrangements for inexpensive
lodging or even camping.

Lessons and Clinics
I offer
advanced Clinics for Mountain Flying and
for pilots that want to hone some skills
they need to work on. I do not have a
set schedule currently for these events,
so contact me and I can let you know what
is coming. For students in the Unlimited
Program, the program includes a Mountain
Clinic. For any student that has completed
their P2 Training, I allow them to come
and fly along with the students in the
program. For students outside the program,
I can add them to the program for a 1
day lesson fee or appropriate amt.

Rules and Policies

All
lessons and packages are non-refundable.
Exception:
In
Unlimited Program, if a customer is unsatisfied
within the first two lessons, the remaining balance
will be refunded. After the first two lessons,
refunds are not available.

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy for
all lessons, including tandem. Canceling
with less than 48 hrs is considered a No
Show.

No
Shows: Failure to show up for
a lesson or canceling with less than 48
hrs forfeits the lesson fees. (For students
in the unlimited or P2 programs, the charge
is $75.00 for no-shows.)

The
unlimited programs have a 1 year time limit from
the first lesson. All other lessons have
an unlimited expiration unless stipulated otherwise.

Lesson
or tandem purchases that have not been started or
used can be transferred to another party.

Refunds
are not available for weather cancellations.
Lessons or tandem lessons cancelled due to weather
are re-scheduled as many times as necessary until
success is achieved.
