Jeff
and Craig go on Vacation
Below are pictures
of this fantastic trip. Sorry, but the quality of the
pics is not great. Neither I or Craig had our digital
cameras for the trip. Mine was out for repair and Craigs
was not working. We took these with disposables and
got a CD for the digital version at process time...
Baja-Brent's House. Sign says No Parking except for Paragliding
Pilots!
Secured Community in La Salina where Brent's house is.
The ridge just north of La Salina that Jeff flew from.
This site we decided to call "Escallante" because
it looks like you could bench up to the high ridges easily
on a good day.
Looking East fromt eh launch at Escallante Ridge.
I landed down at the marshlands at the base of the cliffs.
Taking off from Escallante for 2nd
soaring flight there. Coastal Highway in the distance.
This site works when it is Northy. On our last day,
we flew La Salina Ridge, Escallante and the ridge in
Cantamar all in one day!!
Photo of Craig or Brent up above La Salina from the LZ.
View from up high above La Salina Ridge (Craig took this)
The N. Launch from the air.
Looking North from the South Launch...
La Salina Ridge looking North. Craig is at the North End.
Craig just above and to right of South Launch. I was
hiking up to retrieve truck while Craig enjoyed some extra
airtime.
Dang it, got finger in way. Craig above Cross.
Launches from below...
Back of Brent's House
I landed on the East side of the Highway, did not have
enough altitude to make it to Brent's back yard (across
highway)
Brent lands at his house most days he flies at La Salina.
This is looking south at the site we
flew called Sal Supuedes (Kewl name, means - Leave, If
you can!"). I found this pic on the web, we did not
have the cameras with us when we had a great flight there.
The main coastal ridge in the distance is about 200' high.
The ridges behind go up to about 900 ft. We were getting
up to 800' just ridge soaring this ridge and there were
thermals. It was too strong to venture back to the back
ridge on the day we flew here, but I am sure that on the
right day, you could bench up and take the thermals here
as high as at La Salina Ridge. This is only about 10 or
15 minutes south of La Salina Ridge.
